The Kantfabriek

Today my son had his first glider flight lesson with my sister and my parents!

And I had some quality time with hubby and we went to museum the Kantfabriek in Horst
(about making lace in the region of the province of Limburg and some history about fabrics).
And they have a very nice temporary exhibition about Chinese folklore costume and embroidery until August 2013.

Unfortunatley we couldn't take photo's because Ien Rappoldt is writing a book about her experiences. Which I found very dissapointing in the exhibition, because of the beautiful work that was displayed, but wich was not in the museum shop to get as a recollection whatsoever because the book was not finished.

Sneek preview of the scarlet red..

Yes I know, maybe I should waited untill it was daylight..but this is how the corset came out so far.
I still have to put in the steel bones and eyelets in and finish the bottom.
I pinned down the ribbon where the eyelets should be at the front.
And madame isn't quite the same size as me....ahum...;-)

Scarlet Red

Hi Everyone,
I am still thinking how to make the head pattern for a model for hats and wigs in my own size. Meanwhile I am working on this scarlet one.
I found fabric just as red and shiny as the one in the book, oh lucky me!
It's going to be a Swiss underbust corset but I have to decide if I am going for the white frill or not.
What do you think? White frill or just scarlet?

Cracking skulls

I was working on my corsets today when I had an idea in my head of making my own wig head
in my own size....insane I know....but very handy when making hats and wigs...
It's not easy, meanly because I want to make it out of fabric and I just don't want it to be dumb face.
Still thinking about it, but I think it will never be as nice as a sculptured skull like Art makes.
Well I just have to think about it, suggestions anyone?

Spring

We had a wonderfull weekend in the garden!
It was warm enough to even sit outside!
And we planted some veggies for the first time ( I have totally no experience with them...oh my)
I am very excited about the rest of the year and to see how my tiny vegetable patch will turn out...
